In A Language of Love, Loretta Würtenberger and Count Hubertus Zedtwitz explore the millennia-old relationship between humans and horses, opening up a perspective that goes far beyond the art of riding. In their touching narrative about their relationship with horses and with each other, they combine personal experiences with philosophical and historical reflections, creating a space in which communication, trust, and relationships are reimagined. In this context, the horse is a mirror of our own behavior and, at the same time, a metaphor for the relationship between humans. This book is by no means only for horse lovers, but for anyone who loves nature writing and the big questions of life.
“The language of horsemanship as the language of love – a very poetic and very surprising insight in this very rich book.” – Dennis Scheck, WDR 3
"The book is distinguished by its technically accurate examination of equestrian terminology such as rhythm, contact, aids, and suppleness. However, it derives its great, emotionally touching charm from the philosophical reflections that the two authors add, from the cultural artifacts, especially the poems, that they use to explain and illustrate the terms, and finally from their personal commitment to tenderness and sensitivity, which the terms demand in our dealings with our fellow creatures." – Monopol Magazine
