Writing is always a conversation. It transcends the boundaries of space and time and enables communication with those who have gone before and those yet to come. Buried within the texts, the voices that Levin Westermann unearths in Color Comma Dark wait, layer by layer, to be heard – and then to be answered, as he adds his own voice to the chorus of the endless conversation. For writing is always also a rewriting. Literature is a palimpsest. And everything is connected, in the text and in the world. No living being exists on its own, and no text arises from nothing. The cat, the hedgehog, the forest fire, Paris: everything is important and an expression of the world. The sun – it shines upon the world. “the sun its rays / like an enemy.”
